Police Blotter

August 21,11 p.m., Robbery with Force, Wisconsin and 23rd streets:  Officers Balingit and Guzman responded to call about an assault and attempted robbery.  The officers spoke with the victim, who was visibly shaken and crying.  The victim told the officers that she was waiting for the bus when four unknown females approached her and tried to take her backpack.  The victim held on to the bag and was pushed to the ground. The suspects fled on foot.  Officers searched the area, to no avail. The victim wasn’t injured.

August 14, 5:55 p.m. and 8:35 p.m., Robbery Series, 1300 and 1100 block of Rhode Island streets:  Two seemingly related robberies were committed approximately two blocks from each other.  In the first incident, a woman was walking up to her front door carrying a laptop when she was approached by a hooded male.  The male grabbed the laptop from the woman’s clutches and ran away.  The woman suffered a scratch on her hand during the attack.  An hour and a half later, two blocks a way, another woman was walking to her car when a male approached from behind and grabbed her laptop bag.  When the woman refused to let go of the bag, the suspect punched her in the face.  The suspect gained control over the bag and fled on foot.  He was met by another male.  They got into a car and drove away.  The primary suspect was described as a black male between 19 to 25 years old, six feet tall, with a slender build.  He was wearing baggy blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt.  In the first incident the victim said that the suspect’s pants featured a rainbow design on the rear pockets.  A witness in the second incident described the get away vehicle as an older brown Mercedes Benz.

August 10, 12:00 p.m., Residential Burglary, 300 Block of Mississippi Street:  An acoustic guitar was taken from an apartment storage unit.

August 8, 2008 10:00 p.m., 600 Block of Arkansas Street:  A Potrero Hill resident awoke on Saturday morning and found that her laptop and other items had been taken from her home.  It’s believed that the burglar pried open the metal security gate and entered through an unlocked door.  The resident was home at the time of the incident.

August 5, 8:02 p.m., Pennsylvania and 22 streets:  Officers Arndt and Paul responded to a robbery report.  The officers spoke to the victim, who told them that she’d been robbed of her iPod, wallet and money by three unknown suspects. The victim also stated that the suspects pushed her to the ground, while punching and kicking her in the face and body.  Officers detained the suspects nearby and the victim positively identified them as the persons who’d robbed her. Another witness positively identified the suspects, who were placed under arrest and transported to Bayview Station for booking.  The victim was treated at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) and released.

August 4, 5:20 p.m., Shooting into a House, 1000 block of DeHaro:  Officer Shepard and Training Officer Borgen responded to a shooting incident.  The officers spoke with a victim, who stated that on Saturday he discovered a bullet hole in the ledge of his bedroom window.  The victim told officers that he didn’t hear anything and that he wasn’t injured.  No suspects were located.

August 3, 10:10 p.m., Attempted Suicide by Ingestion, Terry Francois:  Officers Brown and Gummo were driving in the area of Terry Francois when they saw a woman slumped over the steering wheel of a car.  The officers spoke to the woman, who went in and out of consciousness.  The officers called for a medic to respond.  The officers then found two empty pill bottles and a suicide note next to the victim.  The victim told the officers that she wanted to kill herself, and had taken both bottles of pills in order to do so.  The victim was transported to SFGH, where she was treated and listed in stable condition.

August 3, 6:28 p.m., Car Arson, 1200 block of Carolina Street:  Officer Shepard and Sergeant Yin responded to a call regarding a car fire.  The officers spoke with San Francisco Fire Department officials, who advised them that the car was completely destroyed.  The officers spoke with the registered owner, who stated that the car had been stolen. No one was injured.
