Local Schools Need Community Support

The View asked schools in the neighborhood what kind of help they need in the face of significant budget cuts.  Below is what they requested.

2. Art supplies, such as paint.

3. Donations to pay for 12 sessions of African music class, at $75 a day.

Leonard R. Flynn Elementary

1.  Volunteers!  As little as 30 minutes a week shelving library books,  helping in the classroom or assisting with recess would be an enormous benefit.

2. Internet-enabled computer equipment that’s less than four years old, including workstations, laptops, Macs and PCs.

3. Recess equipment, including soft balls of all kinds, hula hoops,  jump ropes, outside toys, imaginative play items.

4. Uniforms.  Many students don’t attend school in uniform because the one outfit they have is dirty or in bad repair.  Twenty five dollars buys a uniform.

5. Media cart for digital presentations, including a laptop, LCD projector, laser pointers, flip charts, markers, collapsible easels, and extension cords.
