25th Street Cleanup

Bill Slatkin

The campaign to clean up San Francisco’s newest neighborhood--the South of Dog Patch area--continued with a recent tree planting on a strip of land along 25th Street between Indiana and Minnesota streets. District 10 Supervisor Malia Cohen (third from left), and landscape planner Heidi Becker (hands in pocket) joined the effort, which was organized by Bruce Huie (kneeling), with several volunteers investing sweat equity into their neighborhood. The campaign began with the conversion of a dilapidated weed-lot under the 280 onramp into Progress Park. The next project will focus on cleaning up the area on the south side of 23rd Street near Iowa Street.  Photograph by Quinton Jones
