Community: “Heart Your Parks”
An annual spring campaign that showcases San Francisco’s parks and public spaces through art giveaways. Each Saturday will feature a screen-printed design by local artist Orlie Kapitulnik specific to the park where the event takes place, which attendees can receive for free, though a donation is appreciated. Golden Thread Productions, the first American theatre company devoted to the Middle East, presents the West Coast premiere of Returning to Haifa by Ghassan Kanafani. Two families, one Palestinian, one Jewish, forced by history into an intimacy they didn’t choose. In the wake of the 1967 Six-Day War, with the borders finally open after two decades, Said and Safiyya, a Palestinian couple, return to Haifa in search of a home they were forced to abandon during the Nakba in 1948.
