Programs for Adults

Movie Night: Pelican Dreams: Join us for a screening of Pelican Dreams. Rated G, 80 min. Tuesday, July 12, 6 to 8 p.m.

Sour Flour: Sourdough Workshop: Sour Flour teaches people how to make bread. This is a great introduction to using and maintaining a sourdough culture/starter. Space limited. Visit the branch or call 415-355-2822 to register. Tuesday, July 26, 6 to 7 p.m.

Programs for Teens

Seed Saving Workshop: Potrero Branch is home to San Francisco’s Seed Lending Library. In this workshop presented by Fog City Gardener, you will learn how to save vegetable and fruit seeds, how to store and share your seeds, and how to ensure that your seeds grow true next season. You’ll also learn how to grow food from common produce scraps and how to start vegetables from cuttings. For all ages. Participants will leave with a vegetable seedling of their choice. Wednesday, July 6, 6 to 7.30 p.m.

Needle Felting with GoGoCraft: Learn the amazing art of needle felting and make a cuddly bunny or other fun creatures. All materials, tips, and tricks provided. Wednesday, July 20, 5 to 7 p.m.

Programs for Children

Saturday Snacktivity: With food provided by the Good Life Grocery, we will offer a wholesome snack followed by a fun activity. All ages welcome. Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Baby Rhyme and Play Time: Songs and rhymes for infants up to 18 months old and their caregiver(s). Tuesdays, 1:15 p.m. and Thursdays, 11:15 a.m.

Family Story time: Featuring stories, songs and rhymes. For children from birth to five years old and their caregiver(s). Thursdays, 10:15 to 10.45 a.m.

Games on Wednesday: The library will host games, both electronic (Xbox) and analog (board games, origami, paper crafts) for children. Activities will vary week to week. Best for children 5-10 years old. Wednesdays, 4 to 5.30 p.m.

Lego Build Afternoon: Free play with LEGOs and Magnatiles. Thursday, July 7, 3 to 5 p.m.

Puppy Dog Tales: Your child will love reading to this calm canine, Frisco,  in a non-judgmental setting. For ages 4-7, but older welcome. Saturdays, July 9 and July 23, 2 to 3 p.m.

Museum of Craft and Design: Make Toys! Spend the afternoon crafting toys and amusements that you can then take home, and enjoy for the rest of the summer.  Some of the possibilities:  bubble wands, splash sponges, zipline flyers, marshmallow launchers, and more!  All materials will be provided. Saturday, July 9, 4 to 5.30 p.m.

Movie and Meal Day:  In partnership with the Potrero Hill Family Support Center (PHFSC), we will present a family-friendly film, and PHFSC will provide a meal. Our selection for July is Finding Nemo. Rated PG. 96 minutes. Friday, July 15, 3 to 5 p.m.

Rock the Bike:  Pedal your way to a delicious smoothie.  Rock the Bike returns, and we will whip up some cool, refreshing summer treats. Saturday, July 16, 4 to 5 p.m.

Tree Frog Treks:  Tree Frog Treks make science come alive. You will get a chance to meet some of their live animal ambassadors and take part in fun hands on science experiments. Wednesday, July 20, 1 to 2 p.m.

Meet Your National Park Service Ranger:  All ages will delight in learning about the flora, fauna, and tales of San Francisco through masterful storytelling from your local National Park Service Ranger. This program is presented in partnership with the National Park Service Centennial. Tuesday, July 26, 2 to 3 p.m.
