Mark Steensland started writing for the View after picking up a copy of the paper while in the neighborhood conducting research for The Black Magic Murders, his fictional true crime novel set in San Francisco, circa 1970, about a demon on a killing spree. For those of a certain age the story offers a satisfying journey through a San Francisco that no longer exists, with references to memorable events.
