Potrero Hill resident Art Agnos was honored with a part of Connecticut Street now sporting his name. The July renaming ceremony attracted political dignitaries, along with long time fans of the former San Francisco mayor. Agnos is perhaps best known for his courageous decision to dismantle the Embarcadero freeway after it was damaged in the Loma Prieta earthquake. Unpopular at the time, the action may have cost Agnos reelection, though ultimately produced great benefits to San Franciscans, who enjoy a spectacular waterfront. Photos: Ed Rudolph
